Leading Through the Post-Pandemic Transformation
The world has begun to recover from the quarantine conditions we have all been living with for over a year now. Similar to when the pandemic began, organizations will be looking to keep in-progress efforts running while also trying to adjust to a working environment that will feel foreign to most team members, at least at the start. As project managers and leaders, much of the responsibility will fall to us to make sure our teams keep delivering on promises made over the past year, while also gearing up for another major shift in our everyday patterns and collaboration. This means not only planning for our projects, but also planning for the shift in working conditions that we are going to be experiencing over the next several months and even beyond.
Many of the efforts we are asked to lead are called “transformations.” We talk a lot about process transformations, agile transformations, digital transformations, and just about anything you can think of that needs changing from the “old ways” to new. While no one is giving a name to the transformation we are going to go through in the next few years, it seems clear that the old ways of managing and running projects are going to change as well.
