This Year, Make Different Leadership Mistakes
When you run your own business like I do, there isn’t always much chance to take a break and reflect on what’s recently happened. It often feels like you’re running headlong from one piece of work to the next without being able to stop and consider whether there’s a better way of doing things. There’s no scheduled vacation or down time to conduct a reset.
However, every year the holiday season tends to give me a break—a week or two where things aren’t quite so hectic and where I can look back and think about how I can improve things. Of course, the fact that the holiday season coincides with the end of one year and the start of the next also means that there’s an opportunity for a fresh start, the ability to immediately try and implement all those changes I think I need.
And, generally speaking, I have a long list of changes that I want to make. You see, whenever I undertake that review, I come to the conclusion that I am a horribly bad leader.

Whenever I look back on what’s happened over the course of the year, I find myself identifying a long list of things that I would do differently if I had a do-over.
