In the second installment of our new PMI Citizen Developer™ Ask an Expert series, Vivek Goel, VP Marketing at Quixy, discusses how citizen development has affected the relationship between business leaders and IT. Watch his video below!

During the pandemic, the need for alternative business models gained momentum—and it is now reaching velocity as we envision post-pandemic times. Global spending on digital transformation initiatives is slated to reach $2.3 trillion by 2023. Customer expectations are rising for quick, on-the-go access to information and services.

The idea is to find the balance between current capabilities and future expectations. Enterprises can harness cloud, AI and intelligent automation to meet and exceed ever-rising customer expectations while staying ahead of the curve. But at an enterprise level, such initiatives lead to complex digital processes and programs that fall short of their goals.

Organizations need to evolve the way their business and technical teams operate and innovate. The best way of doing that is to become operationally agile and mutually productive. Both business leaders and IT need to collaborate and build a hybrid, high-performing and interconnected workforce that is not only creative with technology, but builds bespoke applications for their mission-critical priorities—all on their own.
