Want to get the most out of a trip or vacation? Use your project management skills! They will allow you to avoid missed opportunities and pack in more desirable experiences.

Think about the breadth of potential activities associated with planning a vacation:

  • Transportation – a long drive or booking a flight
  • Housing – reserving a hotel room or BNB
  • Scheduled visits/reservations – restaurants, sporting events, scheduled tours, meet-ups with friends or family, photography during specific times of day hiking
  • Unscheduled visits – museums, gardens, historic districts, nature walks

Without a plan, it can be difficult to do everything you want. Even if you mainly want long periods of relaxation on a beach, you may have to make sure you get to particular spots on the beach—and plan reservations to eat on time. Whatever your objectives, applying your PM skills gives you an approach to maximize your time.
