Navigating the Ethical Landscape of AI in Business

We're witnessing a rapid growth of artificial intelligence solutions nowadays, particularly in generative AI—but future AI models will extend this further. The ethical perspective of AI and how to ensure it follows human ethical norms is becoming increasingly important. To address this complex question, we first need to understand our current challenges with AI.

This aspect is not overly complex, and by practicing with various available models, you can easily identify those challenges. There is also a fast-growing body of related literature available. More crucially, we need to understand what drives AI, because AI is definitely not driven by values underpinned by ethical behavior.

The most critical thing to comprehend before we answer this question is what we want to drive AI with. The biggest challenge here is whether we can define a set of commonly shared values to drive AI. I do not think we can establish a universally agreed-upon answer to this question.

This is why I suggest using a layered approach, which is already widely applicable in many methods we use to organize our knowledge and actions. Such an approach will allow us to modify each layer without changing the others, which is extremely important in a dynamic environment.
