Project Management

The PM Observer

I'm not a project manager, but I play one on the internet. As editorial director of gantthead since 2000, I have been living in the project management world for a decade now, and I'd like to share my inside-outsider view of the art, science, discipline and industry of project management

About this Blog

Project management is everywhere. That's the one lesson I've learned as editor at gantthead since the roller-coaster dotcom days of 2000 when we launched this site and then hung on for dear life. As gantthead has grown (and grown, and grown!), I've become more and more aware of project management all around me. Parenting, entertainment, sports, shopping--almost any interaction I have in the real world reveals something to me about how projects are being managed. In all fairness, many people don't even realize that they're managing projects, and they certainly don't have the advantages of a formal methodology or process improvement techniques. But think how the world would work if everyone applied solid PM practices to their daily lives...and then share those thoughts with me. That's what I intend to do in this space, and I hope you'll join me. Tell me where you see project management working and not working in your daily life. Let me know what I'm missing or (as may happen on occasion) what I'm getting right.
