You need experience in order to become a good project manager so starting as a project coordinator is probably a good start in the right direction.

Thank you for your suggestion. For getting a job as project coordinator, I need to have CAPM certification as Kiron suggested.

Sunil, take a closer look to all related information regarding certification like outline, handbook and so on. Inside the handbook (I do not know if today it has changed) did not say that you have to have experience in directing a project. The requirement is to have experience working on projects with is not the same. In fact, that experience could be into any area stated into the content outline. As I mentioned, I do not know if that has been changed today.

PMP Eligibility Requirements - it is mentioned that, Minimum five years/60 months unique non-overlapping professional project management experience during which at least 7,500 hours were spent leading and directing the project*
I would suggest looking at the CAPM as it requires no project management experience and then look at a project coordinator/analyst role as Rami has suggested and/or look for volunteer experience with your local PMI chapter.

I do not believe this is what Kiron meant. Having a CAPM is an asset but not a must. You can always get a job as a project coordinator and do your CAPM while working. Having a CAPM or a PMP do not guarantee you finding a job.

That is correct, this is why Kiron suggested CAPM which doesn't require as much experience and it is mostly knowledge based.
