I work in the press office for Ganttic, high level resource planning software.
My main reason for joining the community it to get a feel for the tools project managers are using for planning and scheduling projects and tasks - and any issues that you have with them.

I recently gave a webinar about the tools and platforms project managers use and made the observation that everything eventually gets exported into Excel. Whether you're using MS Project, Jira, Confluence, etc., there usually exists a need to get quantifiable data about project tasks, team productivity, and other stats associated with the projects. While Excel is great for analysis, it does add an extra step to your PM workflow and multiple exports might be required per week/month depending on the reporting requirements from management.
I would recommend trying out Coda (disclosure I consult for them) since you can manage the project in one place but also do customized reporting off of the data. It's like a mix of Google Docs and Excel and allows you to build your own version of a PM tool that fits your specific use case. Saving Changes...
