I'm looking to know the main differences between a project plan, a project management plan, and a project charter? Preferably as they are stated in the PMBOK or by official project management institutions.

The Project Charter is completed during the initiation phase of the project. It's purpose is to authorize the project itself and assign a project manager. Additional information included in the charter may be the business case for the project and the alignment of the project to the business strategy. It may also include a high level stake holder assessment and some high level requirements.
The Project Management Plan is started during the planning phase. This is an all encompassing plan that includes all of the other plans (like Risk Mgt, Stakeholder Management, Cost Management, Scope Management, etc). This plan will guide on how you plan to accomplish the project.
Project plan - I can't think about what exactly you are referring to. It may be the Project Schedule, which is part of the Project Management Plan. Saving Changes...
Dinah's covered the PM Plan and Charter comprehensively, so all I will add is that project plan is not a PMBOK term. Most non-PMs when using the term are actually referring to a project schedule whereas most well informed PMs might use that term as a short-form for the PM plan.
