I will be starting a major enterprise migration from Windows 7 to Windows 10 in a healthcare setting. Does any one have a sample plan or timeline from a similar project? And any lessons learned to share?

Thank you

Hi Catherine, We are deploying to 83,000 Windows 7 devices over the next two years. Let me know your direct email and I'll send you our template.
Hi Christine,

I am doing the same but the numbers are way smaller. I have not much experience with creating project templates and so would you mind sharing the template with me as well?

Hi Catherine! I was really hoping that you could share that template with me as well. I have been thrown into a migration project and any advice and tools would be great!

Hi Catherine, I stumbled across your post and the reply recommending our Windows 10 Migration Project Plan https://info.juriba.com/free-windows-10-project-plan-template.

I can assure you that the plan is bona fide, but the purpose of publishing it is really to emphasise just how complex a large-scale migration to Windows 10 can be and ideally you don't want to manage it with a spreadsheet. This will tell you why https://www.juriba.com/dashworks-it-transformation.

One bit of advice that I have learnt the hard way while working on a Windows migration project is do not do anything that Microsoft does not recommend you to do, that is if Microsoft says in its guidelines or best practises do not use such approach/application/technology as you will not be supported if anything goes wrong during the migration then do not use that approach/application/technology during the migration. Microsoft considers that you have been fair warned and will not support you. Not following Microsoft warnings may work when working with limited users on a relatively small network but on a large Enterprise network this approach does not bode well.

Couple of quick tips for an Enterprise W10 Upgrade:

- Define and agree on what version of W10 the organisation will GoLive on. Agree on Gold build version.
- Scope Management: determine if the W10 Upgrade project is responsible for managing the organisational application environment's lifecycle test/upgrade activities as well.
- Change Management - define and communicate how the organisation will manage the W10 functional release cycles post W10 upgrade. The bi-annual functional releases will impact the application estate and require system and functional testing for every release. This is an impact to resources.

Hi! I am taking over a migration that is a mess! Hoping you would share your project plans so I can determine what was missed and where to go from here.
