Project Charter is listed as one of the project documents in PMBOK 5th Edition. Reference - PDF page 78 Table 4-1. Saving Changes...
Thomas WalentaGlobal Project Economy ExpertHackenheim, Germany
p 558 states it is not a complete list.
there is more missing than the project charter, e.g.
agreements, change requests, procurement SOW, business case and several more. Saving Changes...
According to PMBOK 6th, 4.2.3. Project management plan outputs, page 88 in PDF, last paragraph, it refers to Project management plan and other project documents necessary to manage the project, and represented in Table 4-1.
My understanding, Project charter establishes and authorizes the project, i.e. precedes the above documents, thus is a separate case. It is different story with the procurement documents, one option is that they are considered as part of the procurement management plan.
So possible complete definition of all project related documents could may be look as:
- Business case, incl. Benefits management plan (Business)
- Project charter, may also include Agreement by external contracts (High level documents)
- Project management plan, including 12 plans, 4 baselines, 1 life cycle definition, 1 development approach, etc. (Project management plan)
- Project documents - these are not all documents but the one according the above PMBOK definition and Table 4-1 (Project documents)
- Procurement documents - strategy, bid documents, SOW, source selection, agreements, etc. (Procurement documents) Saving Changes...
