Hello All:
I"m looking for assistance in setting up a PM COE for a large healthcare company in the Pacific Northwest.
I"m most interested in leverage existing tools, processes, and templates, as well as having the ability to bounce ideas off somebody's head who has already done this.

Wouldn't recommend on leveraging processes, templates in any huge way as you need to ascertain what will work best for the organisation you are setting up the COE for.

The biggest question that needs to be asked in seeting you your Centre of Excellence is 'what is it supposed to do?'
Sub-questions of this include who its stakeholders are, why it is being established, what expectations have been created and how will the Centre of Excellence know it is successful?
Key here is that there are several models of PMO/PMCOE that can be established, and one size does not fit all. What's worse, trying to be all things to all people is a recipe for overall failure. Is the COE a support organization that will enable improvement in practices? Largely co-ordinating and reporting status? Or is it there to manage projects?
Let me know what you are looking for, and I'll do what I can to point you in the right direction.

Provided is a customizable PMO framework for project management (and learning) that you install on your own network, tailor to your environment (PM COE) and level of needs, and use with the tools that you already have and know. You can request a demo and see for yourself. There is absolutely no reason to struggle in this area.

My (general) advice on setting up a CoE is:
- Leverage the P3O Guidance from the APMG/OGC in the UK.
- Make it a service oriented office and focus on what problems you are trying to fix.
- Create user groups/forums to leverage all the ideas and knowledge within your organisation already. Saving Changes...
