Hello,

I've been in the field for several years. When I started independently consulting I stayed in contact with a number of my previous employers. I was able to offer processes and techniques for a tangible amount that fit better into many of my contacts budgets. Hope this helps.

Brittany, I wrote a small book, maybe more of a handbook, on my experiences as an independent/contract IT PM over the last 20 years. It's called Smart Contracting for Program Managers, Project Managers, and Scrum Masters and you can find it on Amazon. I hope it helps.

Let me know what you think of the book. I want to make adjustments over the next several months as I learn more, which I have already actually. Send comments to [email protected]. Thank you.

As an engineering manager (telecoms) I was already responsible for managing PMs and contracts. However I felt I needed to learn the PM techniques to improve my general management skills. By doing this and obtaining P2 and PMP it opened other employment opportunities for me with old and new contacts. I continue to work in a technical environment but have a greater scope of roles to chose from as the PM skills are generic whereas my engineering skills are in a particular discipline.
