There must be a way to create a WBS Dictionary using MS Project. If not, at the very least there must be a way of linking an MS Word document to MS Project so that a task's ID/number is automatically updated in Word when/if it changes in Project. Can a guru out there help me?

Please note, I am not looking for a WBS template.

Using Notes and Custom Fields in Ms-Project can be an option.

There are lots of tutorials online but in general, I find linking an MS Excel document to MS Project much better. I am not an MS Guru but thought to provide you with my 2 cents.

I think Chadi's suggestion of a custom field in MS Project is the simplest and best way. Using that method will keep a task linked to its definition no matter how many rows you add or how radically you rearrange the schedule's rows.
