Just a little background on me... I have been a PM &/or a PO for over 20 years. I decided to make the jump into the recruiting world because I have always had a passion for helping people get work.

My question for any recruiters out there: What seems to be the best tools to use to get legit PM talent?

On a side note, if you are a PM in the Houston area & are looking for work or a change, please feel free to contact me: [email protected]

Thanks

Attending local PMI events and networking with people there can be a good way.

While a number of people suggest Linkedin, I have also heard a number of professionals also refer to it as "where resumes go to die". I don't have any experience using it myself aside from unsolicited requests to connect from friends and family, but there are certainly different opinions about its usefulness.

Keith's point made me recall a webinar that was hosted by LinkedIn. It showed how to locate talent using their platform, it was very good. The person presenting, who did not work for LinkedIn, noted that most of the people using the platform for recruiting do not know how to effectively combine the search function with boolean to get good results.

LinkedIn is very proactive in helping people to use their platform for recruiting, so reach out to them, there are also some presentations on Slideshare about this subject.

I was approached by recruiter last week via LinkedIn. I believe the 'resumes go to die' comment relates to the fact that some people never update their profiles. You know that is the case when you get a notification to congratulate x on their 10th anniversary at XYZ Co when you know they left 5 years ago :-) all the more reason to sharpen one's search skills.
