Would it benefit me to take the CAPM if I have my MBA with a concentration in project management?

Would it help my career if I took the CAPM if I have my MBA-concentration in project management?

How can I build up hours for my PMP exam to go along with my school credited hours?

Is it possible to find someone willing to be a mentor to me here, or how do I go about finding a Mentor?

Alphonso,

PMP depends on how many years of experience you have so if you have the required years / hours then you can apply. If you have MBA with emphasis on project management then I do not see value in pursuing your CAPM other than for additional knowledge. I personally would go for the PMP directly.

As for mentioning, as I always advise everyone, it might be best if you connect with your local chapter.

Good Luck.

Rami I honestly do appreciate the advice it really means the world to me. I earned my MBA-with my concentration in project management from American Intercontinental University. I'm currently working on getting hired as a entry level project manager so I can build up on the job experience so I can go for my PMP certification.

As Sante stated above, skip the CAPM and go for the PMP. The only thing that a certification will help you is the possibility to find a job but it depends on market demands, your market and location demands mainly. Regarding to certification I highly recommend taking the related documents you will find into the PMI“s certification site and reading and undestanding them, mainly the certification handbook.

In your case, the CAPM really doesn't provide any added value. Get the hours needed and go for the PMP
