PMP depends on how many years of experience you have so if you have the required years / hours then you can apply. If you have MBA with emphasis on project management then I do not see value in pursuing your CAPM other than for additional knowledge. I personally would go for the PMP directly.
As for mentioning, as I always advise everyone, it might be best if you connect with your local chapter.

As Sante stated above, skip the CAPM and go for the PMP. The only thing that a certification will help you is the possibility to find a job but it depends on market demands, your market and location demands mainly. Regarding to certification I highly recommend taking the related documents you will find into the PMI“s certification site and reading and undestanding them, mainly the certification handbook. In your case, the CAPM really doesn't provide any added value. Get the hours needed and go for the PMP Saving Changes...
