Creating a PMO at a healtcare system

Need to find documentation and facts supporting the benefits and value of a PMO. I am in the process of creating a business case for a hospital PMO starting in IT and then moving to other parts of the organization. Does anyone have information that can be shared? Does anyone work at a hospital that has a successful PMO?

When I used to work in that industry a few years ago, there was a very active project management community within HIMSS with participation from quite a few PMO leaders. At the annual HIMSS conference there was always a few session on PMOs so if you are a member you should be able to access past presentations and research on the himss.org website...
