What do we as project managers do?
Things like: Comprise agendas. Follow the agendas. And move the projects along.
How well do you know your agenda?
You should know it pretty well.
Reliance on technology is one thing. Knowing problems that can occur with that technology is a lesson you don't want to learn the hard way.
In today’s technological age I was surprised to see top executives bringing their speeches in the paper format.
One executive explained that he had his speech ready all set to go until his computer crashed. From that day he had his important notes printed out. After the conversation I made my own backups of important items. And prior to the meetings I would print out agenda items.
I remember using one of the portfolio management tools where more than one project manager can update tasks. Well. I created a nice looking Work Breakdown Structure or WBS. Several days later I checked and my task items dates looked different. I found out that another project manager made a global change to some of the common tasks. What one to do? No worries. If you export you WBS on a daily basis. Which I had. So I reverted back to my changes.

Always as a good practice make a backup of important items that you need.

Hi Igor: Thanks for posting these excellent points. They are al practically useful.

To add a few more:
1. As a frequent presenter on many platforms, I always carry my presentations on an external hard drive. Additionally, I back them up to my Dropbox account.
2. Carrying an inexpensive spare presenter with an extra set of cells.
3. Using a good anti-virus program on a regular basis to avoid catastrophic data loss.
4. Carrying out effective project risk management on a practical level

I follow most of these proactive actions on a regular basis, and these have indeed saved me embarrassment on many occasions.
