Let's see. The big ones were achieving the RMP certification and transitioning to the PMO. Since joining the PMO, I have been able to improve processes, develop templates, create training and guide project managers. I have become active in the local PMI chapter. I have actually attended several monthly meetings. More networking. And I have been working on branding myself with new business cards, a video and new resume format. This is all to prepare me for the next step in my career when I am ready. And I have been mentoring others. There have been a few stumbles, like for the first time in my life, I failed a test :0. The ITIL Service Design certification. The failures only make you stronger though.
Thanks for your input. Did attending local chapter meetings boost your networking significantly ? In what way ?
As for failing, it is not actually a bad thing if you look at the full half of the cup because FAIL = First Attempt In Learning so as long as you learned then you did not fail.

I think it has. After attending several meetings I am starting to see the same people again and again and building a bit of a relationship. Then when I went to a Symposium in September, I ran into a few people from the Chapter meeting.
Additionally, we have had some great speaker of late between the Symposium and the Chapter meeting. I was able to chat with them as well. I think one of the best things I gained from some of the speakers was that I was doing OK. You sometimes beat yourself up about how you are handling your career and how you are dealing with bosses/co-workers/customers. After listening to some of the presentations, I realized that I am not alone in my confusion, I do know myself, and others are dealing with some of the same issues. One talk was on working with toxic people and the Q and A session went on for something like 20 minutes.

Great question to reflect:
This year I obtained the
1) Certified Scrum Master
2) Certified Scrum Product Owner
3) ITIL Foundations for Service Management
4) Team Kanban Practitioner
Became involved with multiple organizations and affiliations where I am growing in knowledge base.
I was able to incorporate them into my everyday functions for the first time - and look forward to 2019 to even greater contributions.
Great achievements William - Congrats. I wish you all the best in 2019 goals.

Thanks, it’s a goal I have to make a career pivot and I’m hoping to get great advice from the community here
I finished my MS degree in December, so I decided to relax a bit this year and do less formal education and certification...
Then I got bored, took a new position leading multiple projects at once in technologies I'm not familiar with, and working with people I've never met. I'm drinking from the fire hose of knowledge once again, and learning how to deal with the many different personality types and organizational quirks I encounter each day.
It's less boring now. :-)

Wow, how quickly the year goes by! I am happy with the way this year has progressed.
I started on a new venture at the beginning of this year. It's been rewarding and a step forward in my career; having both strategic and tactical influence within the organization. I look to continue my career trajectory.
As for certifications; I was able to add a couple SAFe designations earlier this year.
Also, great to have all the community activity this past year.

Hi Rami,
Not only in pursuit of certifications and career, it was also a time to reflect upon health, family and spirituality. Spent more time on projectmangement.com, connecting with stalwarts, continuously learning. I was certified in PMI - ACP and now preparing for a new place to start afresh.
