Hello,

I am working in a program office, and I am looking for a tool that will show the following for each project in the program.

- Overall Goal
- Project Info (Name, ID Number, Charge Codes, Project Leads, Sponsor Information)
- Milestones
- Resources
- Connections Between Projects
- The Budget of Overall Project
- Forecasts
- Central Document Repository

Overall, I want a tool where the project members can easily report the status of their project to sponsors and upper-level management. I don’t want something that will be considered micromanaging.

Does anyone have advice?

Thanks,

Rachel Atencio

Hi Rachel

One of the best tools I have used for exactly that is Teamwork - https://www.teamwork.com/

As you can see there are so many tools out there and different tools will suit different industries and projects. JIRA is great especially for development projects, and of cause you have MS Project, but if you are looking for PM's to collaborate with you I really like Teamwork.

Hi Rachel,
If you are still searching a PM tool which correspond to your needs you can check Gouti, it integrate the main features you're looking for and we can adapt and customized a version specially for you.
You can try free version to see if it's what you need.

I hope it will help you or someone !

Hi all,
I was wondering why nobody adviced for platforms like MS Project Online and/or Oracle Primavera EPPM.
It is really intresting to me also, because I am in the middle of an internal company negotiation for the institution of a Program Management Office and I was thinking to implement one of the above mentioned platform. What is your experince with it? What do you think?

Primavera and MS Projects are two time tested project management tools. I mostly use MS Project and JIRA and am quite comfortable with these two. I also suggest to check JIRA which is also widely used across the world. Here is the URL for the same https://www.atlassian.com/ . MS Project is quite flexible and there are different templates available to start a project. Agile is common and is available in both MS Project and JIRA. JIRA comes with KANBAN, SCRUM etc. templates. MS Project is highly customizable in terms of including various fields other than available fields as well. Since Microsoft has gone online with their products, MS Project Online is also available online nowadays. I hope this information will be useful in finalizing the too search for your PMO.

There are many good PMO tools available in the market and forum members have already suggested few nice ones. The cost of tool and ease of access are major factors. At very basic level, you can start with zero cost - spreadsheets shared over network.

Important: Visualize bigger picture -

Based on organizational complexity & readiness, you should evaluate tool, which meet current need as well as near-term need (for expansion). Discuss with members who will collect & update status/data.Think about PMO architecture and organizational processes ...don't just focus on tool. In future, such tool can be supplemented by other tools or will be completely replaced (future data migration aspect).
