I'd suggest to check on your companies on boarding materials for PM, some have all instructions to carry out that function including system training materials Saving Changes...

Congratulations on the new role. First, believe in yourself. You can do anything you set your mind to. I assume you have previous PM experience in some industry. IT is really no different. If you follow the PMI templates and instructions you cannot possibly fail. I would suggest you spend most of your waking hours reviewing downloading templates an using them. You remember 90% of what you do while retaining only 10% of what you read. So start your own project and create your working documents around the project need. If you follow the plan PMI has provided you, you'll be successful. Good Luck Saving Changes...

Esther I'm not going to pretend to know the exact answer since every situation is different but I can share the following advice:
1) Be confident. You probably got the job because you deserve it so do not sell yourself short and don't be apologetic for being there.
2) While you should be confident in your abilities always know you limitations and except them. You will grow past them and find new ones as time goes by. Your limitations are not barriers but opportunities to learn so do not be afraid to ask for help. Nobody knows everything and learning is not a shame. You get more support as an eager learner than as a 'know it all'. Saving Changes...

Hello Esther and congratulations on your new role. When I stepped into my role in the IT Department, I didn't have much experience with IT and had been in program management but never given the PM title or had this unique role. It has been a fun journey and I continue to learn every single day. I would say top 3 most important things (1) Ask questions and don't be afraid to ask for clarification (2) Make connections and go to those people when you need guidance (3) Believe in yourself, be confident and do your best every day, every single interaction - you will do great I am sure! Similar sentiments as shared above. You apparently had enough to offer to land the position, so don't look back and question it. That said, moving to a new role outside of your established comfort zone is certainly a challenge, but that is what you wanted, right? So focus on your achievement and don't question your motives.
Be confident in what you know, and confident in what you don't. Best of luck! Saving Changes...
Congratulations! I agree on what has been shared above. Just be confident. I suggest you do a good research on the best practices of project management framework as also some best practices that are unique to the IT industry. While the framework is domain agnostic, you may want to know the industry-specific nuances. Hope this helps. Saving Changes...
I agree with all of the above views. If you are noticing something fishy/unclear etc. immediately seek clarifications (ask questions). That being said, pay lil. more attention on communication/s. Saving Changes...
