Trust is a critical element of a constructive environment on a project. Without it, individuals likely will not maximize their contribution to the team. What traits/behaviors of the leader can generate trust among the team and encourage project process and advancement?

What are the ethical elements of supporting a trusting environment? What should a leader do and why?

Let's focus on the positive instead of what hasn't worked. Share your experiences. Let's talk about it.

Hi,

There are some factors which are useful to build trust in team.
1- Create a Non-confrontational Atmosphere:
2- Maintain Focus and Direction
3-Respect everyone
4- Trust-Building Activities
5- Care-Trust is built when someone sees that you truly value them as a person and not just as an employee.

Thank you Valerie for a very engaging discussion. We all strive to build trust via walking the talk, having an open and honest discussion, ensuring transparency in decisions and creating a safe environment where people can discuss their concerns without fearing for their position or negative response. PMI Code of ethics (https://www.pmi.org/-/media/pmi/documents/...c_lang_temp=en) offers a strong foundation for the values that we embrace (respect, responsibility, fairness and honesty), and the professional conduct we are to demonstrate.
Having said that, we need to be always aware that our behaviours (seen by another lens) could be misinterpreted impacting on trust building.

How do I build trust? By trusting people.

I share personal things about myself to those I work. I often tell stories where I did something silly.

By revealing and exposing myself, I allow them to know me. Even more important, I show that I trust them with that information.

Some great feedback here from my fellow colleagues.

I just have one small comment: Trust is earned rather than generated.
