I recently came across the American Academy of Project Management (AAPM) through a connection of mine and they seem to have some interesting programs. Is anyone familiar with this organization ?

Tons of these organizations are out there. Sorry, I am personally not familiar with this one, though, thank you for letting us know about it.

Had a look at AAPM a few years back.
AAPM operates on a license model, but rather than paying to use software, one pays to be ascribed the MPM credential. There is no proctored exam. Nor do they offer any sort of BOM. There is no fixed address I could find except for a "Legal Counsel and Compliance Office" chaired by a Prof. G. Mentz - (http://gmentz.com/biography.html). Any claims attesting to their alliance with other organizations or accreditation all loop back to sites run by the same organization. His homepage @ gmentz.com is uproarious. Give his biography a read if you need a chuckle. Lots of degrees and credentials, but zero information what school awarded him his Juris Doctor, MBA or where he taught as a professor. I'm not saying AAPM is a diploma mill, but it does sport all the red flags I would associate with a diploma mill.
