A generalist - with a broad range of skills which can be applied to several different project management situations?

A specialist - with deep expertise in a specific topic area such as cyber security or software implementation?

Usually you find that Job Adverts these days, are looking to hire for a specific type of project - Cyber Security Or Software Implementation , tend to ask for someone who has had an experience on projects covering these.
Now if a generalist can demonstrate at-least one project where they have been involved in Software Implementation or Cyber Security , they are much stronger than the average generalist.
It truly depends on the situation.

Well, it has to do with the project, the organizational culture and etc. Like project managers, these roles may have various definition in different organizations and/or projects.
