Hello, firstly apologies if this question has been asked a lot already, please feel free to redirect me to the relevant thread if it has.
I am currently working as a Jack of all trades in a small 30 user IT MSP. I have previously worked in roles in support & project delivery and currently occupy a space between sales/technical providing pre-sales technical consultation as it were.
I would like to add project management experience & certifications to my portfolio and I was wondering what is the best way to achieve this when your current role doesn't necessarily include project management?
I have registered with PMI and looking at the entry level certifications they still require significant experience with project management. Whilst I do help plan solutions/projects from a quoting perspective e.g what is needed, how many man days, this doesn't necessarily go as far as to manage the implementation, so not sure what experience is applicable.
I am hoping to find an entry point that will allow me to gain some experience, which I can then apply to my existing role or potentially move into a more project management focused role.
Thanks in advance. Saving Changes...

Hello Paul,
I recently achieved my PMP certification, so I can share some of my experience with you on the experience part. I too did not have direct project delivery experience in my career. However, as long as you have been part of the project and have some work around the initiation and planning, and had a fringe role in the actual implementation, you can show it as your project experience. The requirements are for project experience rather than specific project management experience.
The best thing to do is get in touch with a training provider and use their help to properly structure and present your project experience to meet the requirements for PMI certifications.
Hope this helps. Saving Changes...

Hello Paul,
You can take training for PMP and prepare for certification if you are a graduate and have experience of around 4 years related to handling projects. If you are aware of Agile methodologies, I suggest you take some training for certification of Scrum Master (CSM). It is easier than PMP as it is just a part of it. It is good to start off.
Keep learning and keep working. PMs in a way, have to be jack of all trades. Saving Changes...
