Mistake in V6 - Stakeholder mapping?

I believe there's a small error in the V6 guide in the first bullet under 13.1.2.4 DATA REPRESENTATION. The bullet says "Power/interest grid, power/influence grid, or power/influence grid"

Sort of redundant when it gets to the power/influence grid part. :)

If it is mentioned twice then indeed it is redundant. Maybe it was supposed to be Influence/Interest Grid

I recall it was confusing for me as well. Now that we are discussing this topic, let me share my insight.

The way I perceived, Power, Influence and Interest with game of Chess as an analogy.

1. King holds the highest power

2. Queen holds the highest Influence to change the outcome of the game

3. Pawn holds the highest Interest by taking the first step ( Knight can take this position as well)

If we put these three pieces against Power, Influence and Interest into cube matrix its pretty exciting to see the results.

In real world scenario this will be interesting because you never know how fast everything changes!

What a nice metaphor you did with Chess. I am a chess player and I would like to add one element more to your analogy. Actually influence depends on the position on the board at certain moment. So, a horse or a bishop can have more influence than a queen.

In projects, you can compare the behavior I just expose, with the way stakeholders or team members vary their influence during project, in some phases, or in some situations that arise.

What do you think ?

Humm. I must have been up too late at night. But there was a mistake in that section someplace. I'll get some sleep and look again.
