I’ve seen many discussions and mixed opinions about the below subject:
If someone has many years of experience in Project Management and holds multiple PMI certifications for many years, do you see value in taking CAPM exam to refresh someone’s memory based on the latest version of the PMBOK ? and Why ?
Please participate in the below poll and feel free to leave a comment here or there:

Rami, I had not realized you opened a discussion as well. I'll post my same comment here as I did in the poll.
I voted No (though wouldn't go as far as saying I highly discourage). I agree with your premise; that it can be valuable to go back and 'read chapter 1' again no matter the years of experience and any assumption 'one is past that point'. I don't think though it needs to be formally validated with a certification. Maybe it depends on the individual. Some are certainly more in tune with PMBOK changes being active in the project management community, so there is an underlying advantage there.

Andrew, thanks a lot for your input. I hear what you're saying but taking the exam would be some sort of motivation for some people and challenge, that's all. It is not about formally validating but more of a motivation when you work towards something rather than just reading a 1000 pages book (This is what some individuals look at it) but you make a very good point.
I don't see any value on taking the CAPM exam to anyone who is PMP. Although i'm studying and preparing for it. I'm doing it because : 1-Best option to promote within the projects personnel i work with, e.g. i propose the CAPM to people who are starting or would like to know more about project management.
2-I training people, many of them don't have the experience, number of hours required for the PMP exam, so i prepare them to do the CAPM and propose myself to couch/mentor them for the PMP exam along the upcoming months/years.
3-Its a mean to keep update about the questions made by PMI, many of the questions apply to PMPs
regards

Tiago, Thanks for your feedback. This is another good point of view of why you might want to do the CAPM. Sometimes when you coach people, it is good to walk in their shoe so you can teach them better - I hear you. Great Points - Good Luck !

Good Points Wade. I appreciate your thoughts.
The issue I am trying to poll is a bit different. Like I explained to Vincent, I have this question often raised:
"CAPM is only $250 and you can do it from home and it is knowledge based so do you think taking the CAPM exam is a good motivation to refresh out memory of the latest and greatest in PMBOK and Project Management" ?"
Those people are not looking for gathering more certifications but rather looking at the CAPM as a way to refresh their memory because reading a 1000 pages book can be boring but when you set a date, register for an exam then you have a motivation to work towards a goal, thats how they explained it to me and it makes sense.
The CAPM would not motivate me. I can only speak for me, personally. There are others this might work for. But the idea of paying and taking a periodic exam would discourage me.
