In a way, Data and Information are the inputs of the "Learning process", where Knowledge is its outcome.

In my opinion, Data is that which is unrefined, some random numbers. Information is what gives context to the unrefined data and Knowledge is the thing we imbibe and synthesize by processing or refining the data and information.

Further analysis on the application aspect of the knowledge translates to skills and abilities.

Data is the input to the function machine, i.e. analysis, learning endeavour, etc. It may be structured or unstructured but it is generally raw and its significance, correlation to events, and meaning is generally not understood before it is put through said function machine.

Information can be something which is peripherally obtained that adds context to data being analyzed, or it might be an output of the data analysis itself, which can then be applied to subsequent analysis, or to the development of understanding what the data represents.

Once you know what the data represents, and the information that it conveys, you begin to develop knowledge, which is the ultimate aim because it is the tool that allows you to move from the simple possession of abstract and amorphous data toward the specific application of knowledge with a purpose (clear objective) in mind.

As Kiron pointed out, its what you do with that information that makes it different. In leadership, statistics, local knowledge and technical know how maybe information that can be only gained by employing a Subject Matter Expert, by accessing a technical library or by meeting new people and expanding your professional network. Data is in it raw form. Information takes the data and makes some sense of the information either by applying research, experience or data analysis techniques. Knowledge is the accumulation of information and associated experience to come to new conclusions and applications.

Interesting question, but they are all useless, unless we decide to do something with each one of them.
