Hi!
I’m attending to the PMIGC19 and when I saw the logo I was wooow!! I’m really exited with the new PMI branding. However I’m aware that some organizations are in the middle of digital/organizational transformation, so they prefer to use the word Initiatives instead of projects. Do you think that highlighting the word Project in the logo was a right move or not?
Hello Mayte!
If it looks like a duck, walks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, let's call it a duck :-)
I'm glad that PMI continues to use the term "Project" as that shows a commitment to the raison d'etre for the association. Had they tried to pick a more generic term or attempted to be politically correct to those who have an allergic reaction to the term "project" (e.g. some agile fanatics), I believe they would have inspired much greater negative reactions.

Love your comments...I have to recognize that now if someone approach to me with that I answer “As my knowledgeable friend Kiron said looks like a duck...” :) thank you for the analogy.
There are aspects about the new design which I like but there are aspects that I'm also not a huge fan of. This new site seems a little garish in comparison to the old one which seemed to have a more dark mode style theme. Does this new style have a version which is easier on the eyes?
Also, last month I received my PMP pin but I think the new banding may have rendered me retro already. Does anything know anything about the pins? Will they or have they been redesigned? Saving Changes...

Call me "old", but I find this new logo a total non-sense. I do not know much about branding, but I do know that brands like Coca Cola or KLM have barely changed their logos, making people to immediately recognise them. Let´s see what happens, and the explanations tomorrow.
For those of you who can't wait for an "official" explanation of the new brand, Oliver Lehmann recorded a short video interview he did with Brantlee Underhill (PMI) yesterday which has Brantlee explaining what the different symbols mean: https://www.linkedin.com/posts/oliverlehma...2904123392-neYM Saving Changes...

Lots of feedback thus far. Certainly to be expected. We become accustom to our surroundings, with any change almost seeming disruptive. As leaders in our space, we may be the most adept at embracing such change and shifts, especially organizational level changes.
I, for one, am very comfortable with the change. The new brand inspires confidence in PMI's recognition of today's landscape. Saving Changes...

Hi Kiron, In the first few seconds, I thought there was something wrong with my eyesight, but now it’s second day, I am beginning to notice several features which is super beneficial, for example whilst writing this update, the font is bigger than the rest of the page, which means, I don’t need to squint my eyes to type my comments and the VERY best thing is I don’t need my glasses either! Definitely works for me, thank you PMI!
My only critic would be on the new logo, am no professional but I felt it’s lacking oomph, looks like uninteresting muddle of shapes with no definitive dimension in one look. Unsure how others see it or how best to appreciate it as I may have just missing the art here... help!

Just to reiterate found an example of what an ordinary person like me would expect PMI logo may be at least look like. Definitely not the most perfect but just to highlight two things:
2) The ‘I’ has double meaning , an ‘open door’ (am guessing perhaps manifest the objective of that organisation) and obviously the alphabet ‘I’ (which is clear also).
There’s many more examples which am sure PMI can beat, otherwise cannot think of anything wrong with the plain basic PMI logo???

I am not sure what this is to represent but the font on the web page is rather annoying. Maybe it is just my old eyes but I do find it all not pleasing to my eyes. Saving Changes...

@Luis, The brand refresh was announced on August 9th in PMInsight. From what I have seen, PMI dot’s their I’s and crosses their T’s on all projects, makings sure they practice what the body of knowledge preaches. So, I’m comfortable they had plenty of debate and feedback regarding the new brand both internally and externally.
My initial take on the new logo is its abstract nature, and as such it is likely making a statement of separation – meaning that the brand is saying “we are not the PMI of the past”. This would line up with new products they are rolling out, some of which are being discussed at the conference which are geared to provide their customers (i.e. us) with a “personalized experience centered on sustained, meaningful and relevant engagement throughout their career” (stealing a statement from a recent announcement), versus their current “transactional” approach.
I’m sure they will be discussing this with clarity during the conference.
Dear George
I didn't get a chance to see the announcement on PMInsight.
At the African Conference not a word about it.
This Conference was attended by 14 chapters from Africa, 13 Presidents of Chapters, many Vice Presidents and about 250 people.
Also present at this Conference was PMI President Sunil Prashara.
It's just that George doesn't feel very comfortable with "do what I say ..."
Honestly ... I don't feel.

Luis,
I’m comfortable with your opinion’s, I was simply offering my opinion as well regarding my belief that PMI executed debate and due-diligence regarding the brand refresh.
