I'm sure most of you have noticed the update to PMI's logo and the look & feel of the site which is tied to PMI's brand refresh.

What are your initial impressions?

The PMI site has changed a lot, the logo is just one part.

Hi Kiron and all: I am attending the PMI Global Conference and this is the evening of day 2. When I initially saw the new logo on Day 1, I wasn't quite sure what to think. The "M" was hard to figure out at first. By Day 2, I began to really appreciate the change in the logo. It is easily identifiable as I walk through the Exhibit Hall or see materials with it displayed. The more I see it, the more I like it. It is modern, bright and I love the part where the 4th part of the cube can be customized by different chapters around the world. Change is not always easy, but it is important for us to remain relevant in a modern world. My vote is a positive one on the new logo.

PMI has been working on this initiative for a while now. They did consult with a group of community / PMI experts through the way and inspected / adapted based on feedback as they saw fit.

Kiron and I were part of this group and regardless how I personally feel about this new logo and re-brand, I have to say, PMI did put lots of thought and effort in this re-branding and took a very interesting approach. I can elaborate a lot more about what each symbol means and so on but will leave it for Heather / PMI to do so via their post on Monday morning. You will notice that every chapter will have a different symbol now and each symbol has a meaning.
Kiron and Rami, I’m happy to read that both of you participated. You are always giving back to the community. Thank you for all!

Hello Mayte!

If it looks like a duck, walks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, let's call it a duck :-)

I'm glad that PMI continues to use the term "Project" as that shows a commitment to the raison d'etre for the association. Had they tried to pick a more generic term or attempted to be politically correct to those who have an allergic reaction to the term "project" (e.g. some agile fanatics), I believe they would have inspired much greater negative reactions.

Kiron
Love your comments...I have to recognize that now if someone approach to me with that I answer “As my knowledgeable friend Kiron said looks like a duck...” :) thank you for the analogy.

I like it as it looked modern and refreshing. Like others, I find it difficult to recognize it at first glance, and it looked less 'professional' too. Actually, I kind of prefer the old logo. Cheers!

Change is a challenge, negative or positive, however, which of us does not embrace and thrive on new challenges. I must confess I did initially re-load my page upon seeing the new logo, however, it is fresh and modern, I like this new look. Kiron, Rami, I second Mayte comments, thank you.

Thanks Mayte & Julie Ann!

This LinkedIn post from Rand Mesmer provides the glossary for each of the symbols - some used in the PMI logo itself, and others used to complement the logo: https://www.linkedin.com/posts/randmesmar_...6470278145-LaRB

Some of the comments on his post are unfortunate - we all have opinions but as many of you have found out, the initial reaction to something new is not representative of the long term impact.

I agree, some of the comments are unfortunate on this link. However, I posted some info on my LinkedIn and most of the feedback I got was very positive, it created a positive vibe. Here is the link:

Have to say, I don't like the new site. I understand the desire for clean layout, but with so much white, it looks like it hasn't loaded properly - particularly with the font selection in the nav - just my personal opinion

I noticed the change over the weekend and was surprised. I noticed some PMI event photos with the New logo but though that was specific to the event. Overall I like the new look
