I like the earlier logo. But then its the work that speaks, logo comes later. Cheers! Saving Changes...

The new logo strikes me as a young, fresh and even kind of a fun look! As with change, it will take some time for it to become normalized.
I think it is significant that PMI took this step. It strikes me as a statement that there will be more head-turning changes to come; some of which will strike 'much closer to home'. Saving Changes...
I was at the conference and found it very strange that the new branding was only mentioned briefly in passing. There was a lot of confusion, as nobody knew what the symbols meant. From talking with various people, we thought it was still the PMI letters but with funky looking symbols, and the slash one in the corner was to replace the former 'globe' logo.
I find it strange that we need a hieroglyphic decoder sheet to understand the new branding. While it looks interesting, it isn't intuitive at all as to the meaning.

This is in line with this weekend's Global Conference and the 50th Anniversary celebration, at least my take. I'm sure we'll hear something about it over the weekend.
I've only seen the change on mobile. Colors are different. I get a sense there is a theme of diversity and it ties into the recent exam change announcements, PMBOK v7, and acquisitions. We'll see though! Those were my initial impressions.

Did you hear about the 7th edition of PMBOK Guide this weekend?

Luis -
there were a couple of working sessions facilitated by key members of the 7th edition committee during the conference but I was unable to attend either.
Do you have a specific question about the 7th edition?

PMI is trying to appeal to newer younger crowds. I'm OK with that. I am already invested in PMI and will remain come what may.

I am not quite sure that new logo is better than the old one. Maybe I am a traditional and conservative person yet. So, I need more time to get used mainly with the purple color. Saving Changes...
