The majority of the discussions involves always the same valuable persons with any doubts valuable contributions, and the origin of the opinions are provenient almost all from the same culture ( American continent).
What approaches do you think that this social network could implement to increase cultural and gender debate diversity?
How to increase the participation of other cultures in the debate like Europe, África or Asia, certainly this will enrich the opinions debate.

There's an online characteristic called Warnock's Delimma which refers to the difficulty of interpreting a lack of response. Either:
1. content is so good that no response is needed
2. content is bad that no response is warranted
3. content was never read
4. content was read but not understood
5. no one cares.

When I fail to respond, it's usually because a post or a response was so thorough that there's nothing to add (#1), it's a topic I'm not really following (#5), or I'm too busy to browse the conversations (#3).

Dear Rami
Thanks for sharing the results of your research on the topic.

I wish the community was a worldwide reference in Project Management

With everyone's support and participation, we will achieve that.
Luis

Thank you, I hope so ..... First it should start by having a fair unbiased process and giving a chance for more people to have their voices highlighted as opposed to concentrating on a few only.

It takes two to tango, we can't do it on our own, its a two way stream.

Dear Rami
"Start by having a fair unbiased process and giving a chance for more people to have their voices highlighted as opposed to concentrating on a few only" is a gordian knot or something that can see solved?

I can't answer what I can't control so it could be solved or could become a gordian knot. Hope this makes sense.

Hey! Doesn't anybody know that you can read everything in your preferred language? Simply go to the bottom of the web page and click on Language under TRANSLATE.

I will use this opportunity to test out an hypothesis: I believe that if your comments are made in your chosen language, it gets translated into each reader's chosen language. What I want to see is what happens if I type in a different language than my chosen one.

Here goes...

Good point Stephane, I just learned something new. While it might not translate 100% but it certainly does help big time. Thank You !

Stephan, I knew it but when I tried to translate it was a disaster at least when I use it in the begining of this site. No matter that, the point is not translate. The point is people will not enter to make comments becuase they see it is not in their native language. I have the opportunity to work with people from Japan and Rusia and other countries as some people wrote here and they will not participate in english conversations. And if you ask they are right. So, why I am participating? Just because I am doing that from years ago when no translators were available and the only opportunity to interact and learn from people was in english.

Voici mon texte français que j'ai tapé après avoir choisi français comme langue.

This is English text that I typed after choosing French as my language.

Interesting results!

First of all, I can see the translation is not great. It's not bad but would likely be better than a lot of people's attempts if they did it themselves.

The second interesting point is that I mixed French and English in my original text. It knew to only translate the French portion of my comment.

Stéphane, online translation tools are great. Not perfect, sure, but I can usually get my main point across if my audience is patient with me, so I am grateful for the tools.

Before sending an important message, I have learned to translate the message back into English so I can verify the translation. This has saved me from some embarrassing moments.

What an interesting question and a great discussion!
I'd like to add my 2 cents here.
If we take discussion posts as an example, to add value, one has to go through the thread of answers so as to ensure that the response/idea has not been covered. For example, by the time Australia wakes up, the range of answers could have covered a plethora of ideas and angles that might deem any additional response redundant.
Hey Amani. I, too, will often skip discussion threads that are long. If I am interested in the topic, I might go through it and simply vote on the answers I find thoughtful or provocative.

Hey Alexandre. I think we each individually can decide to help members towards everything this forum has to offer. To that purpose, I will try two new tactics.
  1. I will make a point of redirecting direct messages to community areas. For example, when asked a question I suggested the person check out an on-demand webinar that covered the topic. The webinar answered the question is much more depth I could have.

  2. I will include more community assets in my blog posts.

All ideas with the aim to help the community are welcome @Stéphane.

Nevertheless my focus is diversity of culture and gender I would like to see more articles from Project Managers from Japan or China or other geographical regions for example, read their histories, understand what works and what doesn't work in their cultures, what are they experimenting to improve project management. This is the main way to enrich our way of thinking and forming new opinions about old or new topics.

My only concern is help grow the community, in members, in ideas and especially in collaboration, contributing with my modest influence and participation. There are no ulterior motives in this matter just the desire to improve the processes and give voice to more silent valuable members.

This is like literature, I like Kafka , but i don't like to read only Kafka, because there are so many interesting authors with great contributions in several areas like comedy, science fiction, fantasy etc..
