I saw following post on PMI Facebook page.

"Mark your calendar! On 15 January, the exposure draft for the Standard for Project Management will open for public comment. Are you planning to participate?"

My answer is yes, yes and yes. And you?

Stay aware about the publication into the PMI website. When you see it then you will see a link that will direct you to the draft. In past versions people that was PMI members were the only people that can participate.

Curios to see the changes with respect to the 6th ed. It will be - in competition with the 3rd and 4th editions - the shortest time between editions since the journey beginning.

•PMI Founded in 1969

•PMP certification started from 1984

•PMBOK 1st edition released in 1996

•PMBOK 2nd edition released in 2000

•PMBOK 3rd edition released in 2005

•PMBOK 4th edition released in 2008

•PMBOK 5th edition released in January 2013

•PMBOK 6th edition released in September 2017

•PMBOK 7th edition draft January 2020
Eduard -

It is a full rewrite of the guide and the size has been reduced to ~200 pages. As such, I'd suggest it represents one of the biggest changes since the 2nd edition and addresses at least two of the concerns people had raised about it being too big and (perceived as) too prescriptive.

Kiron,

The sixth Edition was released in September 2017, and PMP certification exam format was revised on 26 March 2018, and implemented as of 01 July 2020. In 2020 the 7th edition comes out. Based purely on dates, one could argue that the 7th edition is also released in 2020 in order to really align with the PMP exam.

Indeed, but they will come out at around the same time as long as I understood.

Stéphane

It is just the Standard, team 2 has not completed the review of the Body of Knowledge.

The difference is that the last exam revision included changes from the Sixth Edition whereas the current one is being done independent of the PMBOK Seventh Edition launch. My suspicion is that over the course of 2021 & 2022 once the PMBOK Guide has been published, new exam items might be written referencing it.
