Hello Alankar: I walked away from a company when I realized it was not ethical. It was hard to walk away because I needed to work - but it was the right thing to do and I stepped into something much better afterward. Standing up for what is right is not always the easy thing to do, but stepping out in faith because it is the right thing to do will always be the best step for the best outcome.

I've walked away at least twice from lucrative jobs because they would have required me to cross my own lines. While there was some short term pain in finding a new role or gig, I avoided the long term pain of not being able to look at myself in the mirror.

Do the Principles and Values coincide with yours? (Which, of course, should be those of all mankind)
When we accept to work for a company or organization we are implicitly accepting its Principles and Values
In a situation of conflict, you either go to the ethics committee of that company (if there is such a body) or you have to think more about what you want

I always chose to follow basement values and to review if the company values are in line instead to keep the job or to start a new job. No matter I don't have a good time economically speaking. It does not matter that sometimes you can find places where the full stated values or some of them are not the lived values and you notice that time after you are working inside the company.

The one I would like to share is when an organization I worked for so many years ago was going through financial challenges and one of the conditions for offering redundancy was that the employee cannot work neither for a competitor nor for a client for 12 months. I asked for a formal waiver to ensure that I am both ethically and legally able to look for other opportunities. My employer happily obliged. Saving Changes...

Very important question, I’m working as an entrepreneur since more than 11 years, you can’t imagine how we suffered to follow our values, we had a very tough times but we always follow our code of ethics, after many years we succeeded to build an excellent brand and reputation. We tell everyone that all our deals free of any corruption and this encourage good customers to work with us, unethical employees who are looking for a bribes to give us business don't like us and we don't like them and this keep us safe, ethical and strong in the market, yes we don't gain millions of dollars but we gain ourselves. Good question. I think values are more important than a lucrative job that may necessitate compromising of values. Confirming to the values will help in the long term.
I have certainly faced this situation multiple times so far and have stood by values.

I happen to work in a part of the world where corruption is so high. The government is the largest employer or buyer of goods and services. Working on public sector projects as a contractor is the most secured and rewarding venture where you are always assured of making huge profits. It is the wish of almost every business owner to want to do business with government agencies. Be that as it may, this most often comes with some huge challenges especially due to the high levels of corruption in the procurement systems. You are required almost at any procurement opportunity to succumb to giving away huge commissions in bribes to be able to win these projects.
These are projects that are able to give you huge returns in profits, just working on one of such. The above notwithstanding, as a business owner with high ethical values, you never fall for these corrupt practices but rather walk away from them. It has become necessary to stay within the smaller market space which is the private sector projects or donor funded public sector projects which are always guided by strict anticorruption policies.
