PMI REP costs are released!
For US:
Basic level fee is $6,999 per year.
Trainer fee is $600.
REP has to pay to PMI $99 per PMP training attendee.

Wow, this helps us in our decision. At Boeing we only do internal training and have been a REP for access to graphics and to make it easier for our PMPs to claim PDUs. If they don't provide some relief for our situation, I'm afraid we won't be able to offer an exam prep next year due to the new exam content being unknown.

I also developed and teach a PMP Exam Prep for a local college who is a REP. I don't see them continuing with this cost structure. I may continue with them but I'll need to create new content and make our class offering outside of PMIs Training Partnership.

This is a bad direction for PMI.

Dear Andrew

Interesting your question.
Thanks for sharing

On October 6th, I asked this question here in the community:

https://www.projectmanagement.com/discussi...rd-to-Chapters-

The changes were very large (in terms of model, requirements and costs)

How many R.E.P.'s in the world will PMI lose?

The R.E.P.'s have contributed a lot (and the volunteers who founded the chapters) to make PMI what it is today

When an beardless (person who doesn't know anything about training and the business of training) sits with an open excel sheet and doing simulations ... that's what happens

Lots of changes to the existing REP program and working for a REP in Canada, we are at a significant financial disadvantage given the current exchange rate difference between U.S. and Canadian dollars.

What is really unfortunate is that you have to pay the fee even if you don't intend to deliver PMP Prep training - will there be sufficient business generated by the ATP branding to justify the significant increase over the REP costs for the current program?

I'm surprised by the difference in pricing from Africa to Asia to America, almost one third, two-third, and full.

If covering more than one continent an organization should book everything from the lowest cost region.

So are you suggesting your headquarters may be a PO box in Cairo?

My take is that US PMPs and REPs will decrease to 2000 levels because PMI has a huge turnover and need to pump new members and PMPs to stay sustainable.
So, the fees for Asia and Africa makes sense because that's were the focus will be to get new members & PMPs.
I've read opinions that China will move to projectize lots of workforce, and with centrally-managed economy they can pull the stint to certify 1000's at once. PLUS, the remote (gig economy) project management taking place all around - the result will be global increase in PMPs, with lower demand for onsite in US.

I had checked on this last week and the answer we came up with was that since it is formal PM training PMI is looking for, any formal training should still be accepted, whether internal, external, or college based.

PMI mentioned that ATPs will not be allowed to do on demand self paced , as PMI has an offering themselves.....will non ATP (non REP) be allowed to offer self paced on demand ...and students can claim PDUs

Thanks Wayne, so education offered by non REPs (non ATPs) will still be considered towards the 35 contact hours. Thanks for you answer. would also appreciate if you can shed some light on my other question..... the one demand self paced , and r u aware of an online PMP exam prep course offered by PMI

I hadn't heard anything on the other question. I'd be surprised if they do that. It would effectively de-incentivize training companies to be an ATP. If as an ATP you can't provide on-demand training, and you have a competitor who is not an ATP and can provide it. What is your incentive to be an ATP? That designation will only carry so much panache.

By the by, here's the link to the question I asked earlier about the training hours:

It is written clearly on page 6 of 10 ( on the right section ) that ATP may not offer on demand self paced PMP course

Thank you Shady, I see that now. I'm not sure what to say, I think they are shooting themselves in the foot on this.

I see they also won't allow chapters to run their own exam prep without being an ATP. That is something they can control, but they can't control a non-ATP company from offering their own training including exam prep.
