Who and what characteristics have the leaders that influence and inspire humanity?

I think that nowadays, and in companies where I have been, I never had a leader to inspire me. For me, the reference leaders who really changed the world are almost all dead, in today's confused world, where communication comes from all sides, populism, lies and deception proliferate, sometimes there is more counter-information than true information.

Although I think that a true leader should have a vision that is shared by the followers, should be charismatic, should give the example by doing, altruistic, worry about the welfare of others, honest, confident but realistic.

Not having personalities that inspire me, however, I have institutions that inspire me every day, such as UNICEF, doctors without borders or AMI - international medical assistance. This institutions are true leaders in bringing hope, helping disadvantaged people and contribute to global medical care, reducing hunger and increasing the level of education of the poorest people.

There are many well known leaders who have inspired me - it would have been wonderful to work for them! Four that I'd put forward are:

1. Bill & Melinda Gates: Their philanthropic efforts are amazing, even for billionaires.

2. Richard Branson: I'll never forget his employees first, then customers, then shareholders view

3. Steve Jobs: While he was flawed in many ways, his micro-attention to design excellence and his ability to captivate a live audience are absolutely inspiring.
