Resource breakdown structure(RBS) means to divide a task(project) into smaller sub tasks, which are easier to estimate and track.

Yes you are right I have mistaken it with WBS.

An RBS classifies and catalogs the resources needed to accomplish project objectives. As the Work Breakdown Structure does for the deliverable elements of a project, the Resource
Breakdown Structure provides a consistent framework for dividing the resources into small units for planning, estimating, and managing. In many ways, therefore, the RBS is analogous to the WBS and claims similar advantages in improving communication, integration, planning, and estimating; monitoring and controlling will be addressed in a subsequent paper.

Developing the RBS starts with dividing the pool of resources into entities specific enough so that one can use this structure as a shopping catalog for resources necessary to accomplish project activities developed in the WBS.

thanks again for ur input
but do I develope it seperatly from the WBS or I use WBS to come up with the needed resources.
what if I take each activity or workpackage and asssociated it with the needed resouceses then I develope the RBS

First make RBS till lowest level to be used in conjunction with the Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) to allow the work to be planned, monitored and controlled.

So first RBS and then WBS.

Why would you first create ReBS and then WBS? The point is to effectively plan resources based on planned activities?

Mittal thsnk you very much
I have another question. Now I am trying to develop the project organizational chart. if I as a project manager is at the top of this chart where can I place my manager in this chart since he has some tasked assigned to him in this project. do I place him in a lower organizational level. is that possible? in other word in the organizational structure he is higher than in me, but in the project he is in lower level.

Try to show yourself in middle.

I guess you are talking about roles & responsibility chart here not the organization(hierarchical) chart so I think it should not be having any issue if you are assigning a task to your manager.

RBS has two meaning, one is Risk Breakdown Structure and the other one is what you asked for, Resource Breakdown Structure. Resource Breakdown Structure is like an inventory of all the resources shaped hierarchically like a tree or organizational chart. This is good to trace relevant resources and their commitment.
