Good Morning

I'm a new member in the website and the Discussions Plat-form ,starting my Challenge and Preparing for PMP Exam, during my reading and studying For the PMBOK Six Edition i was reading for many times and making research-concerning the Business case document and how is it.

The PMBOK define the Business case in:
The business need,
Analyzing the situation,
Making recommendations,
and Evaluation.

In some other research or website they define it like:
Context
– Business drivers
– Options considered
– Option selected
Benefits
– Who
– When
– How much (may be financial or non financial but should be measurable)
– Any downside
Costs
– When
– How much (this will be refined as the project plan develops)
Risks
– Mainly strategic risks (eg sensitivity to market assumptions)
Financial Investment Appraisal

in other like Wikipedia are:

Preface
Table of Contents
Executive Briefing
Recommendation
Summary of Results
Decision to be Taken
Introduction
Business Drivers
Scope
Financial Metrics
Analysis
Assumptions
Cash Flow Statement (NPV..)
Costs
Benefits
Risk
Strategic Options
Opportunity Costs
Conclusion, Recommendation, and Next Steps
Appendix

other said that that a business case example should include the following 8 stages:

Stage 1 – Assess needs
Stage 2 — Define the business opportunity
Stage 3 – Plan the work effort
Stage 4 – Investigate alternatives
Stage 5 – Evaluate alternatives
Stage 6 – Define the project/process
Stage 7 – Prepare the report
Stage 8 – Review, revise, & present the business case.

another Creates the project business case like:

1.1. Issue
1.2. Anticipated outcomes
1.3. Recommendation
1.4. Justification
2. Business case analysis team
3. Problem definition
3.1. Problem statement
3.2. Organisational impact
3.3. Technology migration
4. Project overview
4.1. Project description
4.2. Goals and objectives
4.3. Project performance
4.4. Project assumptions
4.5. Project constraints
4.6. Major project milestones
5. Strategic alignment
6. Cost benefit analysis
7. Alternatives analysis
8. Approvals

another give a SARIE stands approche look like :

Situation
Analyze Situation
Recommendation
Implementation
Evaluate

Think of the business case as being the "sales pitch" from a sponsor to portfolio investment decisions makers. The sponsor will be competing with others to get funding for his/her project, and hence needs to demonstrate the higher relative merit of theirs, especially if it is a discretionary project.

The specific content of a business case will vary based on company and should scale based on the complexity and magnitude of the funding request, but that is essentially its purpose.

If it is selected, then "some" funding will be provided to get the project rolling.

If you put all these stuff into the business case there is a great possibility nobody will pay attention to it. First of all, business case is not a matter of project management. Business case is a matter of buisiness analysis then my first recommendation is go for it in the business analysis related documentation. Second, the only thing you have to know is people will decide to invest their effort on the initiative with basement on business case then only valid driver is "people must buy they will be more rich with the initiative than without it" where reach is not money related only. So, key success factor is to make a stakehoder analysis which is in the field of business analysis too. Remember: a project not exists before the business case is approved (except you are following PRINCE2)

A good business case may contain a mix of all the different elements you listed from your research. As Kiron indicated, a business case is meant to sell something. So whoever you want to buy the idea must know what you are selling, how much it will cost, what they will get out of it, if there are any other options, what will happen if they do nothing etc. So the outlines you listed are just guidelines that you must adjust to satisfy the need of the stakeholder/s you will be pitching to.
