Entering a new Project Management position as a contractor where the project is in the last phase of development (IT project)

I'm entering this project blind. I think the project owner has a good idea what they want me to do, but I do not. The project is most likely in the testing phase just prior to implementation. This is just the first major release of a multiyear project.
What should I expect?
What should I be prepared for?
What should I study up on?
