Hi Avish, It is not good to generalize that no organization in India uses methodology. -There are many which has very strong processes and method application like mine and the organizations I worked before. - All organizations have their own processes it is not necessary that all follow a defined one e.g. PMBOK based. They define the process based on their experience in feild and applicability. We can say that using a defined method or process might help them, but again it depends on the maturity level of current system. The same is applicable around the world. There will be many organizations were enormous improvement can be done. - I agree with RK. With PMP you actually demonstrating that you are experienced enough to manage projects. But if it is not backed by practical knowledge behind it might not help much.

Theoretically, you are not allowed to apply for PMP without having minimum number of experience hours or year. I think it’s 3 - 4 years.
Some do apply of course and manipulate the system but without experience, the PMP is just a piece of paper. It won’t get you a job but might put you ahead of the line and during the interview, your experience is what will make a difference.

I suggest you think of your PMP studies and Certification as a successful study of the realities of (in my case) Construction Management practices.
In my case the PMP was just a formalization of everything I already knew and practiced on my Tier ! & 2 Projects For example, every Project I have managed in the past 20 years has required a Project Management Plan Contractually. Frankly, I have produced these myself with various staff input from my staff regardless of the status of the PLAN.
You my friend have the advantage of understanding the staff management and processes required to produce a successful Project and Deliverable. I cannot emphasize strongly enough that you now have the tools that can translate to the IT profession, Corporate upper Management, and high level Construction Projects. This certification is now required by some very prestigious worldwide firms, including Saudi Aramco.
It is my humble opinion that you posses the "Right Stuff" to succeed in any endeavor life and career may take you!

PMP is a certification. You can not apply to it without taking the needed practical experience. So, if I understood well, you can not apply for PMP because you are starting your journey as project manager. Saving Changes...
