Hi Michael,

I took my PMI - PBA Examination in a Pearson VUE Test Center in February 2020. My examination was scheduled to start at 9.30, but started a bit late. During the exam, there was a technical difficulty as there was a network issue at the test center. It took them about 10-15 minutes to sort it out. But all in all, they handled it pretty well.

Thanks and Best Regards,
Ruwangi

Hello Ruwangi,

Thank you for sharing. Was this time lost through technical issue added to your exam time or you had to finish your exam within the remaining time?

Hi Michael,

I took the PMP online proctored exam this month. The first time I did, I got an error message and was logged out of the exam twice. I couldn't log back in the second time, and had to reschedule the exam.

The same thing happened again yesterday when I retook the exam but the proctor was able to sort it out on their end and I was able to relaunch the test.

A few tips for those choosing the online proctored option:
1. Ensure you do multiple system checks where possible.

2. Include a valid phone number. On my first exam, I bypassed the phone number option and later found out that Pearson Vue calls candidates where there's a problem. In retrospect, they might have been able to sort out the issue with the first exam if I had included my number.

3. Use the chat option to notify your proctor of any issues you have as soon as they arise. That way not only can they help you solve your issues, there's also a record of the problem if they have to escalate.

4. Take the break. There's now an optional 10 minute break built into the exam after the first 89/90 questions. I suggest you take it, sretch your legs, grab a bite to eat if you want. The 10 minutes isn't part of your 4 hours so why not?

N.B: You have to review and submit your answers before the break and can't go back to that section after. So review that part and be sure you're happy with your selected answers.

Hi Michael,

The exam started off right where it had stopped. The technical issue hadn't made any impact on the time.

I took the PMI-ACP exam online in May. I didn't have any major concerns during my exam, and it went pretty well. I am comfortable recommending the PMI-ACP online exam, but I recommend taking the exam at a test center for the PMP. The PMP exam is more challenging, and being worried about connection issues, website glitches, or other disqualifying events would be too stressful in my opinion.

Hello Michael,

My PMP proctored exam didn't go as planned due to technical issue. My exam date was 5th August, 2020.

Before and on exam day, I did all the system test multiple times and everything was okay, webcam, speaker, microphone - all okay during system test on multiple occasions and in exam venue.

During the pre-test screening, I was able to video my ID and workspace, all were done successfully.
Then the proctor arrived when a chat window popped up and I started hearing a ring tone through my computer, but didn't know how to pick the call, phone was not accessible to me. I chatted the proctor and he(she) replied by asking if he(she) could assist me in anyway, but I answered that I was fine. I was asked to show my desk and I did so, it was okay for him(her).

Proctor informed he would release my exam soon after verifying my details so I was eagerly waiting.
I was asked if was using 'hotspot' or wifi; I was on hotspot so was told to switch to wifi. But would mean I had to get up and ask receptionist for password etc, but luckily proctor allowed me to sort it out and return to my desk immediately.
After connecting to wifi, there was still no difference from proctor end when I was informed that my video had not been showing well on the his(her) end, therefore the exam won't proceed. But i was really seeing my video and it was displaying 'video recording' on my screen.

When I asked if I'd be charged a rescheduling fee, proctor provided a case ref and advised that I should call PMI to make a case of technical issue due to unstable connection.
After contacting PMI through Pearson VUE agent, I was advised to wait for 2 - 3 working days to get a response through email. So I'm still waiting.

But I'm now confused what other type of internet connection to use since i've already tried the 4g hotspot (Glo) and Spectranet wifi - these are strong internets I always use to stream videos and other online activities in my location.
Any suggestions will be highly appreciated.
Thanks

I did both my PMP and PMI-ACP online

In both exams, I didn't face any difficulty or challenges and both went well and I recommend Proctored route
