Network Diagram vs. Precedence Diagramming Method??

Hello All,
I'm trying to understand the difference between a Network Diagram and the Precedence Diagramming Method. Is the PDM a type of network diagram (like the ADM or GERT would also be types of network diagrams)??
I'm reading Rita Mulcahy's book and on page 227 it says the network diagram is "an image depicting the flow of project activities in the logical order in which they will be performed. All activities after Start should be connected to at least one predecessor activity. All activities on the network diagram before Finish should be connected to at least one successor activity. In addition to sequencing activities, the network diagram helps you plan which activities can be completed in parallel and to see where leads or lags are required." - However isn't that exactly what the Precedence Diagramming Method does?
I just want to make sure I'm understanding correctly. The precedence diagramming method is a type of network diagram?
Thank you in advance for your help!! Have a great day :-) Saving Changes...
Yes, it is.
Other confirmation it can be found in page 65 column Planning and page 67 in 4th bullet that says: "... This testing will require adjusting the WBS for added scope, the network diagram to determine the order of the work, ..." Saving Changes...
