I'm assuming you DON'T mean the rapper OR Scooby-Doo's nephew?

It’s coming from the world Scrap ... We normally say it when something is not organized or not done in a good fashion.

Another use of the term "scrapper" is a street fighter. I had to look up scrappy PM but my hunch is that the metaphor is about real world PM vs. idealized PM.

Heard it while watching a classic movie from the 1950's... Is it trying to make a comeback?

Lot of great answers above!. As somebody stated above the first time I herd about it apply to project management was in a paper that was the origin (as far as I know) of the book. I saw the paper and what I remember it was about how to survive a project and about things that according to the author it will happend in the reality. Nothing that people in this thread would not be able to write in my opinion.

Good answers to these questions. I have not heard some of them. To me, scrappy is what Rami says.

In golf "scrappy" is the ability to get out of trouble (scrapes) and a scrapper is one who can do this with success. Of course it means that first you have to get into trouble. Same applies to boxing - someone quick on their feet that can get out of the corner with minimal damage.

To associate a project with "scrappy" or the PM as a "scrapper" is not positive.
