Hello PMI world, I've been reading up in the standard and the webinars here about structuring programs. There are a few PgMPs and PgMP aspirants here, and it would be interesting to hear how you find it best to roll up benefits and stakeholder info for related projects, subprograms, and activities.

So far, my favorite webinars on this are by Mark Mullaly:

Looking forward to a conversation here about recommendations

Thank you

Benefits management needs to start before the program is formally initiated. In mature organizations, the methods by which benefits will be measured and verified are part of the business case used to authorize the program.

Over the life of the program, the Program Manager should work with the business executive primarily responsible for the program's benefits to ensure that the deliverables of the program are able to support benefits tracking and reporting. Also, if there appears to be significant erosion in forecast benefits, the Program Manager should not be afraid to escalate this concern to the appropriate governance bodies to avoid wasting valuable resources. When projects complete within the lifespan of the program, the responsibility for keeping an eye on their individual benefits realization might still remain within the program team, but as part of program closeout there should be a clean transition to a benefits owner.

@Kiron, thank you for this. I am in the process of thinking through this deliverable piece for a set of intangibles.

I was in charge of defining this process from long time ago in places where I have the pleasure to work in. Time ago I was part of the group that created the PMI“s Benefit Realization Management guides (in the beginning) then my recommendation is you take a look. The best documentation to consult in my personal opinion is all related to MoV y MoP from axelos and PMI documentation related to business analysis.

@Sergio. Your MoV note here linked me to a resource about "measuring organizational value" right here on PMI

Author cites a 6-step process for determining value by J.T. Marchewka that stands out!

Thank you!
