The processes within each of the PMBOK process groups can be executed at any time during a project whereas life cycle phases are generally sequential or at best overlapping.
Identify Risks is a Planning process group process, but we could do that during the SDLC planning stage (initially), analysis phase (as we learn more), design phase (as our design emerges), development phase (as new risks emerge) and so on.

Dear Anonymous,
in general, PM Process Groups govern the work of the project manager and PM team. SDLC is a lifecycle model for SW development and governs the work of SMEs (developers, testers, architects etc).
If you have a small project, you may use (parts of) SDLC as only model to manage it, if you have a full-time PM you might want to tailor your project approach to include PM processes too. In my experience, the 7 processes of Chapter 4 in PMBoK Guide ed6 should be considered.
