How soon do we get the PMP exam result?

As the question says, how soon do we get the exam result and how is the grading done.

What does pass/fail actually mean? I just received this message as I completed my PMP exam.

Same as Kemoy McIntyre. I passed exam today and didn’t get instant result. Just a message saying I will receive result in 48 hours.

I'm set to take my PMP Online Exam within just a few days. I'll be sure to update everyone whether I get my preliminary result immediately or I'm asked to wait, so that you guys are updated with the current process!

Took my online PMP exam today. At the end it just showed you have completed the PMP exam. Wait for email in 48hrs. What does this mean ? Pass/fail?

Update as of 24/01/2025
I appeared or my Online PMP Exam on the 20th January, 2025 in the morning. After completion, I received an exam completion message but did not receive any prelimnary result. I received a mail that I passed the exam around 18 hours after the exam was completed. So, we do not get instant results after we complete the exam, it does take a while.

I took my test in person today and received the preliminary printout saying I passed.

I completed my online exam around 11:30 PM on March 12th 2025 and got the pass result email around 6:30 PM the next day. So, it took about 19 hours. There was no upfront or preliminary result. I believe that this gives PMI enough time to ensure that all the guidelines were followed during the exam.

Short-answer:


 

Within 5 days (1-5 days) as per the instructions on the onVue examination application.


 

Long answer:


 

I took the online examination from the comfort of my home on the 28th of March 2025 07:30 AST time, when clicked the exam finish button i got the message that claims "It takes 5 working days to process your exam results and check your adherence to rules, bla bla bla"


 

I actually received the exma results the second day, 29th March 2025 06:15 AST time (less than 24 Hours).


 

Thanks to the discussion here that gave me similar answer, i just wanted to post my answer as a recent examination date :D


 

Regarding the exam at a testing center, you got the result once you click finish.


 

Regarding the exam at your home, it takes from 1-5 days to procee your results (Actually i got the results < 24 hours)


 

 


 

Testing at home is a way better than testing at centers, you have fast internet speed, facilities (W/C, Water, Coffee, A/C, laptop/PC,..), quiet space with no interruptions (no other people examining in the same room)

As far as I am aware, those who get initial results immediately are the ones who sit for the exam in a test centre but if you do it online, it will take up to 48 hours as there are more verification layers needed. If you’re too concerned, I suggest you contact PMI customer care.

As far as I am aware, those who get initial results immediately are the ones who sit for the exam in a test centre but if you do it online, it will take up to 48 hours as there are more verification layers needed. If you’re too concerned, I suggest you contact PMI customer care.
