Business Agility, Agile methodologies, Scrum, Sprint are the terminologies in trend these days.
Still there are organizations who are struggling to transit from traditional methodologies to new methodologies.
Organizations have realized that change is the only constant and to survive in the competitive market they need to adapt to the changes as fast as possible.
Common challenges which restrict the organizations to adapt to the new change are:
1. Organization is so accustomed to the old way of working that they resist the new changes.
2. Agile methodology has too many new terminologies to keep the deliverables intact which the management fails to understand and adopt
3. Roles defined in the agile framework seems to be a little confusing as in the roles and responsibilities changes.
Most companies and projects walk on the path of adopting Agile but gets stuck somewhere in between and can be referred as Water-Scrum Fall. They adopt few of the processes from Traditional and few from Agile and get the things going.
To achieve the full benefits of Agile the “Must Have” things organization to undergo are:
1. Train the employees and make them understand the roles and responsibilities. Agile coach can be appointed in the organization.
2. Communication is the key – Team should be vocal and comfortable to discuss the problems
3. Team to adopt the pillars of scrum to be able to achieve the deliverables – Transparency, Inspection, Adaptability
· Transparency: A culture to be created wherein team feels encouraged to discuss anything and everything related to project and its progress
· Inspection and Adaptability is a monitoring and controlling process wherein we check the progress and tune the deliverables as soon as possible to achieve the target results
There are other ways too, for transition from Traditional WoW to New WoW. These are just a few to describe what can be done.
