I lived and worked in the Gulf. Local Chapters is a wondeful constructive idea for the PMI itself as an institution as well as for the individual.
I also wondered why we don't have a chapter here in Qatar. Please let me know if you have made any progress in creating a chapter in Qatar. When I contacted PMI customer service, they informed me that there has been a chapter in Qatar since 2008. However, I couldn't find it in the list of chapters. The chapter formation is in good progress. There are a number of legal requirements that have to be met from PMI and government level. PMI Team members from the Middle East region and volunteers have been actively working on it and it is now very close!
