I would like to understand the best practices for the release management process for e-commerce based software projects.

I want to be able to track metrics and performances whenever there is a release and be able to track it across my analytics software tools (ex. Google Analytics). So, in an event there is a significant change in the metrics, I want to know be easily able to associate it with a software release.

To be able to achieve this, I am looking to define a release management checklist with the list of best practices. Could you please share from your experience what has worked for you?
