Hello all! What is the best way to prepare to take the CAPM exam? So far I have gone through the whole Project Management Basics Course and keep failing the practice test. I have started making my own flash cards but the content is LONG so that is taking me forever. What worked for you? Saving Changes...

I highly recommend the following:
1) Go through the PMI Guide.
2) Purchase and Study Rita Mulcahy CAPM Exam Prep Book.
3) Do simulation exams. A good resource for this is PM Prep Cast.
In my opinion, the course alone won't be enough to prepare you for the exam.

Maggie - I have taken the CAPM exam TWICE. 2011 and 2016. I renewed in 2021 and have consistently trained CAPM differently from the PMP. I can tell you without a doubt, the PMBOK Guide SIXTH Edition will greatly help you. Saving Changes...
Maggie - Can you provide an update on what worked for you?
I am having the same issue. Completed the coarse (except the practice exam portion). I have read the PMBOK Guide Sixth Edition. Have studied a stack of homemade flashcards.

Hi Rachael,
I passed my CAPM a few months back and wrote about it (https://www.projectmanagement.com/discussi...-experience--). I think the best thing to do is focus on the areas you aren't passing on and really go in depth with your study. Personally, I didn't use the PMBOK, however I watched Ricardo Vargas a great video covering the PMBOK 6th edition. I just took practice questions and reviewed my notes every day. I made notes on the areas I found hard and reviewed them constantly. I also used the PocketPrep app.
All the best with your exam!
Cian.

MARCH 16-19 Exam Saving Changes...
Did you reach out your local chapter? Maybe they have some mentoring programs or study groups that can support your journey. Having a test prep buddy will help a lot.
Wishing you the best! Saving Changes...

I am planning to sit for this year's CAPM exam, and after reading the comments above it has given me some direction on how best to study. Thank you. Saving Changes...
